The Laticrete HYDRO BAN Cementitious Waterproofing Membrane by Laticrete is a heavy-duty, one-component, polymer-fortified waterproofing material. Designed to mix simply with water, this cement-based membrane provides exceptional protection against both positive and negative hydrostatic pressure. With a rapid 2-hour flood test time and a fabric-free application, it’s the ultimate choice for continuous wet areas like swimming pools, bathrooms, and exterior balconies.

Whether you are building a custom shower, waterproofing a commercial swimming pool, or protecting an exterior terrace, the Laticrete HYDRO BAN Cementitious Waterproofing Membrane delivers professional-grade water protection you can trust.

This advanced one-component system eliminates the need for complicated multi-part epoxies or cumbersome fabric tapes. Simply mix the polymer-fortified powder with water, apply it directly over your substrate, and achieve a watertight seal capable of handling both negative and positive hydrostatic pressure up to 2 BARS (29 PSI) when applied at 40 Mils (1mm) thickness.

Engineered for efficiency, the membrane allows for flood testing in just two hours (at 70°F/21°C) and rapid drying so you can begin tiling faster. It forms a tenacious bond directly to a wide variety of substrates, as well as metal, PVC, and ABS plumbing fixtures. Rated for “Extra Heavy Service,” this membrane exceeds industry standards and ensures your tile, brick, or stone installations are built to last a lifetime.

Coverage & Mixing

Kit Size Approx. Coverage*

4‑gallon kit ≈100 ft² at 40 mil wet film

*Coverage will vary based on substrate porosity and application method.

Application Areas

Use Hydro Ban Cementitious waterproofing membrane on:

  • Interior & exterior showers
  • Swimming pools & water features
  • Balconies, terraces, and facades
  • Industrial kitchens & laundries

Why Choose Hydro Ban Cementitious?

Unlike traditional sheet membranes, this brush‑applied coating conforms to complex shapes and penetrations without seams, reducing potential failure points. Professionals appreciate its fast dry time, while DIYers value the straightforward mix‑and‑apply process. Backed by LATICRETE’s industry‑leading warranty, Hydro Ban Cementitious delivers peace of mind for every waterproofing project.

Storage & Shelf Life

Store unopened kits in a cool, dry location between 40 °F and 90 °F (4 °C–32 °C). When properly stored, Part A powder and Part B liquid maintain a 12‑month shelf life from date of manufacture.

Dispose of any unused mixed material within 30 minutes to prevent hardening in the pail.

Ultra-Fast Turnaround: Flood testing ready in just 2 hours at 70°F (21°C) or higher.

Fabric-Free Application: Does not require the use of fabric on field application, coves, or corners.

High-Pressure Defense: Handles positive and negative hydrostatic pressure up to 2 BARS (29 PSI).

Extended Workability: Generous 80-minute pot life allows for flexible installation time.

Direct Bonding: Install tile, brick, or stone directly onto the membrane; bonds seamlessly to PVC, ABS, and metal plumbing fixtures.

Pool & Submerged Use: Can be used under pool plasters and is ideal for partially tiled applications (waterlines, tiled swimming lanes, and targets).

Eco-Friendly: GREENGUARD certified and LEED compliant for healthier indoor air quality.

A general guide for the end-user (always advise checking the Technical Data Sheet for precise instructions).

  1. Surface Preparation: Ensure the substrate (concrete, backer board, etc.) is structurally sound, clean, and free of dirt, oil, or curing compounds.
  2. Mixing: As a one-component system, simply mix the 30 lb. bag of HYDRO BAN Cementitious Waterproofing Membrane with clean water according to the exact ratios specified on the packaging. Mix until a smooth, lump-free consistency is achieved.
  3. Application: Apply the mixture over the substrate using a trowel, roller, or brush. Ensure an even, continuous coat. No fabric tape is required for corners or coves.
  4. Thickness Check: For optimal hydrostatic resistance, ensure the membrane is applied at a wet thickness of 40 Mils (1mm).
  5. Curing & Flood Testing: Allow the membrane to cure. At 70°F (21°C) or warmer, the area can be flood-tested in as little as 2 hours.
  6. Tile Installation: Once cured and tested, proceed directly to installing tile, stone, or pool plaster using an appropriate Laticrete polymer-fortified thin-set mortar.
