Designed with the TileWare patented, mortar-based fastener technology, these systems are intended to be installed exclusively by tile professionals. A major concern when installing other types of bathroom accessories in showers such as towel bars and baskets that require drilling into wall studs is that doing so compromises the waterproofing creating a potential for water penetrating behind the tile and could cause damage and deteriorate the integrity of the tile installation. The TileWare Towel Bar along with other TileWare products such as baskets are installed using an innovative, patented fastener system consisting of a low profile but durable plastic mount containing wide openings. The mount is pressed into wet thinset applied to the waterproof substrate and the tile is installed on the substrate over the mount. The thinset connects with the back of the tile through the openings in the mount and when it cures, forms a mechanical bond that holds both the mount and the tile securely in place.
