Epoxy grout is one the most powerful types of grout on the market today. It is highly tough and durable, but with its upside comes the fact that it is difficult to install for most homeowners.

To make the grout application job run more smoothly, it’s important to have the right tools like an epoxy grout sponge. Our selection of epoxy sponges ensures that you’ll be properly outfitted for your next grout install.

Epoxy Grout Uses

Epoxy grout is becoming an increasingly popular option for tile contractors. It is different than cement grout, which is typically less durable. Cement grout is made from a powder mixture and is not water or stainproof. This is not the case for epoxy grout, as it is made of epoxy resins and filler powder. Its compound mixture makes it extremely durable, waterproof and stainproof. Additionally, epoxy grout possesses greater bond strength and stands up to harsh cleaning chemicals in contrast to cement grout. If you are looking for a more durable grouting option that also is stain resistant, than epoxy grout might be right for you.

Installing Epoxy Grout

Accompanying all the positive attributes of epoxy grout, is a slight downside. It is tougher to apply than traditional grout. Unlike cement grout, epoxy grout takes longer to set up in the grout joint and as such it is tougher to shape around outside corners. It is also difficult to remove excess epoxy grout with a cement grout sponge, which is why you need to get an epoxy grout sponge before starting your epoxy grout application project. These sponges are coarser and do a much better job wiping away surplus grout.
