Unfortunately, many consumers aren’t aware of how to properly care for and maintain their natural stone. This results in many customers using standard household cleaning products on their stone, which can etch the surface of the stone – making it dull and resulting in permanent damage.

One of our most recommended Fila stone care products is the Fila DETERDEK All-In-One Cleaner. This cleaner is an all-in-one descaler and detergent that has a high concentration of surfactants to remove grout residue, rust stains, and lime deposits from natural stone shower walls and bathroom fixtures.
This all-in-one cleaner does not emit harmful fumes, does not alter the color or appearance of the stone’s surface, does not harm aluminum or steal trim, and is safe to use on terracotta, brick, quarry tile, porcelain, glazed ceramic tile, and other acid-resistant stones.
If there is a tough oil and grease spot, FilaNOSPOT Oil & Grease Spot Remover will be a huge help. Simply spray and wipe fresh stains with the remover to reveal beautiful, unstained stone. If rust is an issue, FilaNO RUST Stain Remover is a non-acidic product that will effectively remove rust stains on marble, granite, porcelain, concrete, and other natural stones. It works quickly, and can remove a rust stain in as little as 15 minutes.
While natural stone cleaners are necessary for everyone who has natural stone in their home to have on hand, you’ll find they aren’t needed as frequently when the stone is sealed first. This is because all stone, no matter the type, is porous to some degree – so it can be stained. Sealers can be used to help prevent stains, but keep in mind they are effective, but not impervious, so they will require routine upkeep. Inform your customer that sealers should be pH balanced or neutral, and that while solvent-based sealers are longer lasting, water-based sealers are more user and environmentally friendly.
Our water-based sealer recommendation is Fila MP90 ECO PLUS Stain Protector Penetrating Sealer. It’s ready to use and is excellent protection for polished marble, granite, and porcelain – making it perfect (and safe) for sealing food surface areas. This sealer is easy to use and does not require dilution – making it great for first timers.
