LATICRETE Hydro Ban Liquid Waterproofing Membrane 5 Gallon is a single-component, self-curing rubber polymer that forms a thin (≈15 mil wet) yet seamless barrier against water intrusion and substrate movement. The cured film exceeds ANSI A118.10 waterproofing and A118.12 crack-isolation performance requirements, making it suitable for “Extra Heavy Service” floors per TCNA Robinson testing.^[1]

Compatible substrates & typical uses

Apply over concrete, cement backer board, exterior grade plywood, gypsum board, CMU, metal, and PVC. Common installations include shower pans, steam rooms, fountains, swimming pools, balconies, and kitchens.^[1]

Application basics

Prime dusty or highly porous surfaces with a water wipe-down, then roller-apply the first coat at 15 mil wet film thickness. After the membrane changes from light sage to olive green, apply a second coat at 90° to the first for a full 30 mil build. For a visual guide, watch the official Hydro Ban installation video.^[3]

I suggest you have smaller packs of 2 gallons of Laticrete HYDRO BAN Liquid Waterproofing Membrane or so please. I had a small patch of my bathroom to do, but ended up working the whole wall because I had a 5 gallon pail of Hydro Ban to use.

This product is incredible! Simply put in a paint pan. Use a brush for the corner areas then use a roller for the rest. I used 5 Gallon to completely waterproof my tub surround up to the ceiling.
